Chemistry is in the energy we store, the water we drink, the materials we make and the molecules that keep us alive. We explain the connections.

Accessible scientific context.

You do not need a scientific qualification to start reading. Our articles explain mechanisms, distinguish measurements from interpretations and connect laboratory research with practical questions. Numbered sources let you follow the evidence further.

The name and its ten perspectives.

Molecules in Context: Research, Observation, Technology, Applications & Society — 10 Perspectives gives us the abbreviation microtas10: Molecules in Context, followed by Research, Observation, Technology, Applications and Society. The number 10 represents ten perspectives: molecular structure, chemical reactions, measurement and analysis, microfluidics, tissue models, biotechnology, materials, energy, the environment and society.

A small-scale point of view.

This domain originally served MicroTAS 2010, the conference on miniaturized systems for chemistry and life sciences in Groningen. The current publication is independent of that conference and its organizers. Our history section keeps the old context accessible.

What is here now?

The first edition has 16 original articles across five topics, four selected research advances, a glossary and two numerical learning tools. Research stories display the verified date of their paper, research report or announcement. Evergreen explainers are labelled as background guides. This is an edited first edition, not a continuously updated news feed.

Our scope.

We focus on mechanisms, evidence and practical implications. Health-related coverage explains research and its limitations; it does not offer individual treatment instructions. The editorial approach describes how claims and sources are presented.
